Bodyweight Training Exposed!
Read My No B.S. Take On Bodyweight Training
Bodyweight Training… Some may say it is a way of the past, others may argue that it is the most efficient way to get in shape, and some may not have a clue what bodyweight training is.
So the glaring question is……
Should You Waste Your Time With Bodyweight Training?
The answer to this question is not simple to answer. It all depends on who you ask. The heavy weight lifters would argue that bodyweight training is a waste of time and in no way build muscle mass let alone true strength. The avid cardio enthusiast would say long distance running and cardio are the best form of exercise you can do which trumps bodyweight training. The yoga and Pilates folks would chime in and say that bodyweight training needs to be centered and not overly aggressive.
So who do you listen to?
More importantly… Who Do You Trust To Give You Real Insight On Bodyweight Training?
Here is the deal. I have done everything when it comes to working out. I have tried heavy lifting, chronic cardio, yoga, Pilates, you name it I have done it. I am not here to give you a skewed answer on whether I think bodyweight training is an effective form of exercise based off a hidden agenda. What I am here to do is give you an answer based off of my experience and research. You can choose to trust me or not that falls on you.
To be totally honest, bodyweight training in my eyes is well..
- the best form of fitness you can do to increase lean muscle mass that lasts
- decrease body fat percentage with ease
- decrease time spent working out
- decrease you expenses (your body is free of charge to workout)
- increase your variety,
- increase your enjoyment in working out.
- And that is just the beginning
Those are big statements by me and I know that you probably do not agree with some or all of them. The simple fact is this… Bodyweight training is hands down the most effective type of training I have ever done. It has also gotten me the most results in the least amount of time. I am not one of those people that say one thing and do another. I honor character, truth, and integrity. I use bodyweight training on a daily basis and have done so for years now and have no intention on changing.
The reason for me not wanting to change is that I get great results, enjoy it over other forms of fitness, and never run out of new bodyweight workouts to do.
If You Don’t Know What Bodyweight Training Is Here Is The Answer
You only use your bodyweight to workout. Push ups, pull ups, squats, interval cardio, all require your bodyweight only and that is all you need to get fit!
But what about going to the gym, using the machines, weights, and so on?
They are not needed and are misconceptions that we all have fallen victim to. Your body moves the machines, the weights, the gym does nothing, your effort does everything.
The reality is that most people who lift heavy, do chronic cardio or focus primarily on yoga cannot do more than 5 pull ups!
Bodyweight training builds functional fitness which strengthens your muscles to the point that you can do many pull ups or push ups and hold your own with lifting heavy if you desire to do so.
Bodyweight Training is the most fundamental type of training you can do
But we don’t hear that, we hear that we need to go to the gym and use equipment and weights. To be honest, we are a bit brain washed with those misconceptions aren’t we?
Bodyweight Training allows you to workout anywhere and eliminate dependencies to rely on the gym to workout. It also will allow you to start out at your own pace and fitness level more so than any other training platform.
The bottom line here is this. I fully endorse bodyweight training as the main form of fitness for basically everyone. But learning the proper forms, various moves can be a bit daunting. Having a reliable, well researched and tested program that focus 100% on bodyweight training is the best way to go.
